Welcome to Dueling Dragon Martial Arts!
Dueling Dragon Martial Arts is owned and operated by Sensei Kevin L. Miller and his wife Nancy. The Millers are Sandans (third degree Black Belts) in Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan Karate as well as holding a first degree Black Belt in Shukukai Kobudo. Mr. Miller also holds a Shodan (first degree Black Belt) in Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan Iaido.
The Millers each have twenty seven years experience in the field of education and opened the school five years ago in order to help students of all ages and physical, mental and emotional abilities to learn to enjoy and master the ancient art of Karate, also known as the art of "empty hand" self defense. Their specialized level of experience makes them uniquely qualified to teach students with physical impairments as well as students with learning and behavior disorders such as mild autism and ADD/ADHD.
We strongly believe in encouraging good character development in children as well as encouraging and promoting family values. We urge families to participate as a unit thereby increasing their bond by encouraging each other to achieve their goals. When parents participate with children in the martial arts, the chances of their success skyrockets.
Kevin and Nancy have been fortunate enough to have been joined by a singular group of excellent martial artists who share in their philosophy of teaching.
Recently Dueling Dragon was honored to have presented a Shodan (First Degree) Black Belt to Mr. Alex Young a fine young man who is a able martial artist as well as a talented young instructor. He assists with all classes.
In addition we have awarded three additional Black Belts to Mr. Michael Harris, Mr. Matthew Shafer and Mr. Jeremiah Hall. All are fine young men and we are proud of their hard work and achievements in the martial arts. Sensei Shafer continues to attend and help teach the children's class while Sensei Harris is currently in his second year of college working in pre-med and attends when he can. Sensei Jeremiah Hall has been deaf since birth, and has a passion to help other hearing impaired people achieve in the martial arts. As far as we are able to ascertain Mr. Hall is the very first hearing impaired student to achieve a black belt in the state of West Virginia.
