The largest group of Prestons who settled in Georgia started in Augusta Co., VA, then moved to Brunswick Co., VA and then to Walton Co., GA. Pages on this family are as follows:

• Thomas Preston ca.1722-1798
• Archibald Preston 1794-1882 , son of Thomas Preston, Jr.
• Leonidas A. Preston 1828-1913, son of Archibald Preston.
• Archibald Gilliam Preston 1840-1905, son of James Madison Preston and grandson of Gilliam Preston.

Another Preston family apparently started in Ireland and settled in Knoxville, Crawford Co., GA as early as 1810 and was the only Preston listed in Georgia at that time. No known connection to the Walton Co., GA Prestons.
