Robert Robinson Preston
1793-1866

Robert R. Preston b. 10-21-1793 d. 3-5-1866, son of Walter Preston and Anne Montgomery, married Elizabeth Cummings, daughter of James Cummings and Mary Campbell, granddaughter of Rev. Charles Cummings and his wife Mildred (Millie) Carter Cummings. Robert and Elizabeth had 10 children:

1. Arthur Cummings Preston, died young.
2. Anne Montgomery Preston b.3-27-1835 d.9-23-1912, unmarried.
3. Campbell Preston,b.3-2-1852 d. 11-6-1854
4. James Preston b.3-13-1837 d.8-19-1842
5. Walter S. Preston, b.1-6-1840 d.2-15-1910. Soldeir in Confederate Army, died unmarried.
6. John A. Preston,b 6-3-1842 d.9-18-1914, also in Conf.Army, also unmarried.
7. Mary C. Preston, b.9-18-1833 d.6-22-1914, m. 10-5-1856 Joseph Trigg Campbell and had three children:
• Garnett Campbell, married and moved to Abiline, Texas.
• Mary Conley Campbell, died unmarried.
• Robert Robinson Campbell, married his cousin, Mary Byrd Trigg. No children.
8. Amelia Cummings Preston, b.12-1-1844 d.10-5-1921 m.2-12-1868 Robert A. Preston b.12-25-1842 d.12-5-1916, son of Dr. Alexander and Sarah Smith Preston of 'Locust Glen' Spring Creek, VA. They had 6 children:
• Alexander Preston, married Bessie Gordon, they had 5 children who all live(ed) in Washington, DC.

• Elizabeth McDonald Preston b.3-26-1870 d.5-3-1934 married in 1896 Robert Fairman Preston b.4-1-1857 d.10-16-1928. (Son of James T. Preston, grandson of Col John Preston) They had 7 children:
• Arthur Cummings Preston
• Mildred C. Preston, died young.
• Lucy Preston, died in 1965
• Eleanor Fairman Preston, married William Simpson and moved to Florida.
• Fannie Rhea Preston, died in 1971.
• Twin, died in infancy.
• Robert Fairman Preston, married Corinne Helms.
• Margaret Smith Preston, died unmarried.
• Mary Campbell Preston, died unmarried.
• Thomas Wilson Preston b.1-10-1876 d.1-15-1955 m. 10-16-1901, Florence Blair, of Wytheville, VA. Thomas W. Preston was owner of the King Printing Co. of Bristol, and served as Mayor of Bristol, VA for many years. They had 3 children:
• Amelia C. Preston married William Eaves and lived in Bristol.
• Frank Blair Preston married Helene Iverson of Illinois. They had 3 children:
• Sinclair Preston married arbara Simpson. They had 2 children.

• Sarah Pierce Preston, married Henry Fairley and lived in North Carolina. They had two children:
• Blair Preston Fairley
• Henry Nathan Fairley
9. Elizabeth Cumming Preston, the eight child of Robert Robinson Preston and Elizabeth Cummings, married Howard Leyburn of Augusta Co., VA and they have four children:
• Bessie Cloud Leyburn, married Mr. Douglas, Presbyterian Minister, stationed in China. They have 1 daughter living in Florida:
• Bessie Leyburn Douglas
• Jennie Preston Leyburn married Alex Height of Elmira, NY. She died in 1950.
• Alfred Leyburn a bank examiner in Wash. DC, married Clarice Leyburn. He died in 1956 leaving two daughters.
• Nelly C. Leyburn lives in Washington, D.C.
10. Thomas Wilson Preston married Mary Shelby of Huntsville, Alabama and left six children:
