The LEPC's (Local Emergency Planning Committee) responsibility is to develop and plan an emergency response that addresses accidents involving hazardous material agencies. With membership representatives from both private and public sectors, evacuation routes, identified hazardous chemical facilities and available shelters are compiled into a plan. The response plan can be activated if needed. Visit our downloads section to get a copy of the Hazardous Materials Annex or a copy of the Shelter in Place brochure from our downloads section.
The LEPC functions under the "Community Right to Know" amendment. A resident may request information on specific hazardous materials. Write to the LEPC coordinator, Department of Emergency Services, 162 Industrial Park Rd, Beaver, WV 25813 subject to the "Community Right to Know" reporting under Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) Title III. You can also email at rclepc@suddenlinkmail.com.
The LEPC also offers HAZ-MAT statistics for the Raleigh County Area. Below is a graph for calls made in 2020 and it's related call type. |
