MY DREAM AIRPLANE
MAPA 1998 Best of Series Award
M20C Original
This is a 1965 Mooney M20C with a carburated 180 Lycoming engine.
It is so clean that it cruises at 170 mph (147 knots) at 70% cruise power.
It has some high speed mods (nose clousre, not shown)
without changing much of the original skin to the aircraft. The paint job
is about a seven, the interior a seven, and the engine only has 1500 hours
(as of 3/12) since factory remanufacture.
The panel has been totally modified since its original configuration,
now featuring a modern T panel. The airplane sports a Garmin 430W(slaved to the
autopilot, IFR certified), and S-TEC autopilot
with altitude hold, GPS roll steering (GPSS)
and approach capability , 1 KX-155's, and S-TEC autopilot
with altitude hold, GPS roll steering (GPSS)
and approach capability, dual ILS's, transponder, and audio panel, DME. Yes, that is
a big Johnson bar for the landing gear (for those of you who don't know either, the 30"
bar is used to put the gear up and down (mechanically).
As you can see, it also has a nice interior. I'm not sure about
the yellow panels; but you can't have everything. The carpets and seat
covers all look new and the panels have very little aging. Couldn't have
gotten more lucky.
