![]() The Academic Acceleration program allows students in fifth through seventh grade who have fallen behind academically to take advantage of advanced resources to recover the missed skills and demonstrate proficiency in order to be promoted to their appropriate grade level. Students spend their day working on computerized learning software such as Compass Learning Odyssey and Fast ForWord to build skills in Mathematics, English/Language Arts, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. In addition, our highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals assist them with individualized, skill-specific instruction. When the student has made acceptable gains, they are given a proficiency test to demonstrate their skills, and following a successful test, they are promoted to the next grade in that subject. When a student has achieved proficiency in all four subject areas of their current grade, they are officially promoted to the next grade. Once a student reaches the eighth grade, they will continue their accelerated plan througout the state testing period, and pending a successful 8th Grade LEAP test score, will be promoted on to high school. Student success in this program is limited only by their willingness to succeed. The faculty and staff of the Academic Recovery and Career Discovery Center work diligently to ensure that these students have access to the highest level of assistance in their efforts to achieve academic success. Parents wishing to enroll their student in the Academic Acceleration program should contact the school for an application form. Students will be placed on a waiting list, and the parent will be contacted when a space is available in the program. Following an interview, program administrators will determine whether the student will be admitted into the program. ![]() |
