Education began in the 1600’s and the changes from then until now are immense. Surprisingly, in 500 years time, there is one major similarity in those foundational days that is still upheld here at ARCDC. Although the name may be a little different, the content is the same. The practice of learning Social Etiquette, as it was called in the 1600’s, is comparable to the social skills training our youth are learning today. In the 1970’s the Caddo Parish School Board believed it was necessary to create alternative educational opportunities for those students who have not been successful in the traditional school setting. During the fall semester of the 1970-71 school year, the first alternative school was created. To date we have served over 24,000 alternative students.

We at ARCDC share in the belief of the Caddo Parish School District that we can provide help for every child in Caddo Parish, no matter how serious their issues may be.

We welcome parents, students, and all members of the community to visit our campus and learn more about the myriad of amenities ARCDC has to offer our youth.
