The Connections program is a one-year process for overage students to receive targeted instruction and accelerated remediation aimed at helping them attain a high school diploma, GED, or State-approved Skills Certificate. Diploma- and GED-track students can also work towards receiving an Industry-Based Certification. While the goal is for all students to attain a high school diploma, the other pathways are available to ensure that the student becomes a successful, productive adult.

Connections serves students who will be 15 years of age by September 30 of the current school year AND who are two or more grade levels behind academically.

Connections seeks to ensure the success of students in the program through:
  • small class sizes
  • consistent progress monitoring through TABE testing
  • individualized instruction based on TABE test results
  • behavior improvement and monitoring through mentor relationships and Positive Behavior Support (PBIS models)
  • special education and related services for students with disabilities
  • career preparation programs including the Journey to Careers curriculum and skill-training components.
According to state guidelines, Connections students are required to take the 8th grade LEAP or LAA2 test. If they have previously taken this test, remediation activities will be part of their coursework.

If you would like to learn more about the Connections program, contact the school office.
