The Paxton/Patterson Growing Up Ready Lab is a multimedia and hands-on program for middle school students that fosters growth in academic performance and social development. The program gives students the opportunity to learn if their interests and aptitudes are well suited for a career within Family and Consumer Sciences based occupations. Students spend 10 days following a guided plan to gain understanding in each of the following modules: Banking and Credit Services, Caregiving, Consumer Science, Facility Maintenance and Planning, Family and Friends, Nutrition and Wellness, Parenting, Science in the Kitchen, Math in the Kitchen, and Hospitality and Tourism. Modules are designed to give students skills that will be useful at home and on the job and also include writing topics concerning the area of study.
