Let me give you a short run down of my Murrays. As you know, George was my grandfather and Alice Johnson my grandmother. I never knew either one of them. My father never talked of his family, and what little I know I learned from my mother. Sometime in the early 1900 George abandoned the family , took Stanley,Ora and maybe Forrest and a girl and went to Ohio. Alice then abandoned the rest of the family while some were quite young, and they were left to fend for themselves. Somehow they all lived to adult hood. The older children all stayed in and around Van Buren county. At some point in time, James (Jim) also went back to Ohio. They all lead normal mid-wester lives. My father farmed when I was young and then in the 50's he operated a bulldozer, and he was a small town policeman when he died in 1959. Believe it or not, my dad was the last Murray I ever talked to or seen since 1959. I had two Murray cousins, who were Lee's children, but they were much older then I, and really don't remember much about them except for the fact Roy was in WW11. He came home on leave and came to visit us on the farm. I was about 6 at the time. He had on a Navy uniform and he took his jumper off and had a "tatoo" I remember that like it was yesterday. I could not take my eyes off of it.Dad had a brother Earl who lived nearby, but Earl never married and had no children. A sister Nellie also lived close by but she never had children either, as for the others I cannot say. As a side line, you said you stayed in Mt. Pleasant, that is were Lee lived for years until he retired and went to Flordia where he passed away.
