Thermoplastic Polyurethane Concentrates
Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Concentrates, Alloys and Specialty Polymers
for the Plastics and Rubber Industry.

Xtracon, Inc. offers a series of TPU concentrates   for applications requiring anti-static properties, melt strength enhancements for blown film and sheet extrusion and rework/recovery processing. Also included are concentrates containing lubricants, and weathering stability packages. Concentrates are available in TPU based on aromatic isocyanate and polyester, polyether, and copolyester/ether. Also available is a rigid TPU, and an aliphatic isocyanate type based on polyether.

The concentrates have been formulated specifically for TPU and are designed to improve key property areas and also overcome some of the processing and melt stability problems common in these resins. Typically, the concentrates are used at levels from 1-10 pphr (parts per hundred resin) and can be dry-blended with virgin resin prior to charging to the processing equipment hopper. Xtracon, Inc. also has under development several high, intermediate and low modulus alloys based on specific polyurethane resins combined with a variety of engineering thermoplastics. These alloys, which are available for customer trials, address property and process areas where the chemical, abrasion resistance and toughness of TPU can be combined with the superior processing and other unique properties of the specific ETP polymers used. The alloys show no stress whitening and exhibit unique load bearing properties combined with high tensile elongation. In some of the products, films can be stress orientated to further increase modulus and tensile properties.
